Salone 23: Day 1..a long day of travelling

Up way before dawn, we managed to leave school just before 2 am, and made it in record time is=t seems, to Heathrow, parking outside T2 just after 4:10am. No queues, so checked in quickly, and then joined by Holly...and through seucrity without a hiccup...only one person was thoroughly search, a very dodgy character indeed, ME (alwasy picking on the little ones!). After hours of travelling through Brussels, and then West towards Freetown, we finally landed around 5 pm local time. Last suitcase to come out? yes, that's right mine! Arrival in a brand new airport, rivalling now any international airport! Sleek and smooth, and then onto the new roads down to the ferry port. After an entertaining 40 minute-wait there, we finally embarked on the fairly new ferry...and about one hour later, we finally made it into Freetown, where the Welcome committee of Musa, KItty and Pearl was expecting us. All 23 pieces of luggage, inclduing the very fragile electric stick double bass, made it to Freetown and after a quick scramble, we finally made it to the Family Kingdom Resort, where a fresh coconut juice welcomed us! After a quick turnaround in our respective bedrooms, we all gathered for some very welcome food brought by Kitty, and then exhausted, we all went to bed! First signing off: JDA
