SL 2024 Day 1

As the sun began to rise over London Heathrow, excitement buzzed in the air. An adventure was about to begin. One that would take us from the sleepy streets of Wells to the shores of Sierra Leone. With our bags packed and spirits high, we boarded the plane, ready for adventure. After a long flight, we landed in Freetown under a blanket of night. Glimpsing pockets of life as we travelled through the dark on the bus, but our true test awaited: a boat ride across choppy waters to reach our final destination. Boarding a local boat, the engine spluttered to life against the backdrop of twinkling city lights. The wind howled as we navigated through the waves and the man on the table next to us sat with his umbrella up in an attempt to keep the rain outside! After a very long day, we finally arrived at our destination. To end our first day we tucked into pizza and chips. Fed and watered, we settled in for the night, eager for the exciting days ahead in this beautiful land. Tomorrow promises new experiences, but for now, we drifted into a peaceful sleep, Sierra Leone, we were ready for you!
